My name is Maija Drezins and I am the compiler of this ALKD archive! I have grown up in the Australian Latvian community and it is very dear to my heart. I feel incredibly lucky to have grown up with such a vibrant culture and I wanted a way for everyone to be able to view and learn about our past here in Australia.

In the 59 festivals that have been organised we have sung hundreds of songs and dances hundreds of dances. We have performed across the country, as well as overseas, in numerous amazing venues. No matter the first or most recent KDs, this festival holds a special place in the hearts of many of us.

I created this archive so that both the community and the general public would have a place they could come and learn about our past and all the amazing people that have come before us.

I am honoured that I have had this opportunity and I hope that you will enjoy learning about ALKDs as much as I have!
